This is how we manufacture and install an iron structure for an elevator

As a metal carpentry company, at Jinka Diseño we don’t just work with iron — we take it from concept to final installation. That’s why, in this project, we show you the entire process of manufacturing and installing a metal structure for an exterior elevator, an increasingly common type of project in residential communities looking to improve building accessibility without undertaking invasive interior work.

First step: Manufacturing the metal structure in our workshop

Every metal manufacturing project starts in the workshop. As specialists in welding y custom metal carpentry, we calculate and assemble each structure piece by piece — from welded tubular steel profiles that form the skeleton capable of supporting the elevator cab throughout its entire vertical travel.

During the manufacturing of the structure, we pay special attention to:

• The squareness and verticality of the structure, key for a precise on-site assembly.
• The diagonal reinforcements, which provide the necessary rigidity against loads and wind.
• The welding of each joint, checked one by one before considering the piece finished.

This groundwork done in the workshop is what later allows the on-site installation to be fast and safe.

Transport and on-site installation of the metal structure

Once finished, the structure is transported to the building and hoisted by crane into its final position, fitting it into the opening prepared on the façade. This is a delicate moment, as the piece must be perfectly aligned with the existing opening in the building, between floors and windows.

With the support of an elevating platform, our team completes the on-site assembly: fastenings, final adjustments, and checking that the whole assembly is correctly anchored to the building’s structure.
