The metal sector in Valladolid, “stronger than ever,” says Vametal’s general assembly.
The Valladolid Metal Employers’ Association, Vametal, recently held its annual General Assembly at the CIFP Safa Tech center in Valladolid. Representatives from the organization’s 245 member companies attended the event, reviewing the past year and outlining the roadmap for the years ahead. Gatherings of this kind serve as a good barometer of the current state of the metal sector, an industry that generates millions of euros in revenue nationwide, employs more than 31,000 people in the province of Valladolid alone, and continues to transform at a remarkable pace.
A sector that adapts without losing its roots
During the Assembly, the focus was placed on the strength of the metal sector as one of the pillars of the province’s economy and industrial fabric, highlighting its ability to adapt to major current challenges such as technological transformation, digitalization, sustainability, and, above all, the need to bring qualified talent into the workforce.
This last point is perhaps what concerns companies in the sector most today. Demand for technical profiles such as welders, machine operators, assemblers, and product engineers is growing faster than the labor market can supply, and many companies, including ours, are dedicating increasing effort to training and retaining our own talent.
Collaboration between companies and institutions
Another central message of the assembly was the importance of collaboration between companies, administrations, and institutions in successfully addressing the sector’s challenges. It’s not just about competing, but about adding value, sharing training, institutional representation, and best practices so that the industrial fabric as a whole comes out stronger.
That’s why this mix of competing and collaborating at the same time is probably what best explains how the metal sector in Valladolid has weathered recent cycle changes. It’s not a sector that depends on a single large company, but on hundreds of workshops, factories, and suppliers that need each other for the chain to function.
We are one more piece of that machinery, and we share that vision, since we know we’re part of a highly diverse sector. Metal encompasses more than a hundred different subsectors, but they all share a common denominator: a culture of work done well, continuous improvement, and a commitment to keep investing in our facilities and our team.
